Advanced Training Opportunities
Advanced clinical and research training opportunities offered by Duke Cardiovascular Medicine include the following.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The
Duke Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center
invites applicants for two types of fellowship programs:

Advanced Clinical and Research Track
-
Post-Doctoral Research TrackThis track is for those individuals interested in an academic career in cardiovascular MRI.
Both programs are for two years and begin July 1 of each year.
Applications for
July 1 must be received by January 15.

Echocardiography
Duke provides advanced training in the performance and interpretation of
echocardiograms, including two-dimensional, Doppler, transesophageal, stress
and contrast applications. The Duke Echocardiography Laboratory is a
state-of-the-art facility based at Duke Clinic with a second fully functional
laboratory at Duke Hospital.
Areas of ongoing research include:
- Stress echo
- Endocarditis
- Cardiac resynchronization
- Strain and strain rate imaging using speckle tracking
- Three dimensional imaging
- Myocardial perfusion contrast echo.
Outcomes research performed in conjunction with
Duke Clinical Research Institute has also become an important focus of the
laboratory.
