Nuclear Cardiology
The nuclear cardiology laboratory at Duke strives
for excellence in clinical service, research, and teaching in the field of
cardiovascular nuclear medicine imaging.
Procedures

SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging studies

Radionuclide angiocardiography

Positron Emission Tomography combined with with cardiac computed tomography (PET/CT) for multimodality imaging
Approximately 5,000 procedures are performed each
year.
The PET facility was awarded Duke's Star Service
Excellence awards for two consecutive years.
Our nuclear laboratory is currently a core
laboratory for a sub-study of the largest study funded by the National Heart
Lung and Blood Institute (the Heart Failure Action Study).
Facilities
The nuclear cardiology and cardiac PET laboratories are equipped with 4 SPECT cameras and 1 SPECT CT camera. The cardiac PET facility has 1 PET CT unit in a dedicated PET unit.
